On behalf of our client, one of the big Hotels chains globally, we are looking for a highly motivates Head of Finance to take care of the operations in Croatia


Role / Purpose

The Head of Finance will work proactively and effectively as head of finance and accounting in the Company.
The role and work will be self-starting and require a high degree of initiative and personal drive to build relationships across the business and externally. The candidate will be responsible for providing financial information that is timely, and accurately recorded according to local GAAP, local tax laws and IFRS.

The main responsibilities are, but are not limited to:
 
  • Key link with the majority shareholder, HPL and project team
  • Provide reliable financial information and commentary to assist management
  • Comply with the shareholders’ reporting requirements (UK, Singapore and as advised from time to time)
  • Maintain and where required, improve existing reporting systems
  • Month end and year end responsibilities and coordination with outsourced accounting firm

Operational Matters

The list of responsibilities below is not exhaustive:
 
  • monitors the progress of the Project (including updating project appraisal)
  • investigates variances, recommend approval of expenses and assists where required etc
  • Maintain bank accounts, process and make payments
  • Prepare payments request forms in respect of development invoices for approval by development team and HPL
  • Cashflow management
  • Organize and coordinate with outsourced accountant for invoice processing and recording
  • Prepare monthly management accounts
  • Supervise monthly payroll calculations with related employee benefits and taxes
  • Reporting to HPL
  • Prepare project and other budgets, forecasts and cash flows
  • Assist with bank financing matters, monitor banking arrangements and covenant/compliance reporting and KYC procedures
  • Monitoring the necessary bank guarantees and related deposits are valid
  • Establishing accounting rules and ensuring their application
  • Prepare statutory financial statements for the year end
  • Liaise and assist HPL and auditor with annual audit (documentation and financial statements)
  • Provide information for and answers to HPL, auditor, tax authority etc
  • Liaise with and provide support to the shareholders
  • Liaise with and provide support to funders/banks, lawyers and public notaries for Shareholder meetings and other legal matters (contracts, etc)
  • Communication with Ministry and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to HPL and the Company's overall strategy, board meetings etc
  • Assist with operational issues, as required

Experience, qualifications and skills
 
  • Comfortable working within a small, fast-paced team
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA all preferable) and/or degree level qualification
  • Good level of spoken and written Croatian and English
  • Demonstrable financial accounting experience
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Group reporting and consolidation experience
  • Previous hotel / leisure sector / real estate experience /audit (5 plus years in audit and 2 plus years in industry)
  • Involvement in acquisitions / projects
  • Exposure to IFRS
